450 Marlin Ammunition

Hornady's 450 Marlin Factory Ammunition:
350 gr. Interlock FP and 325 gr. LEVERevolution
The 450 Marlin cartridge was developed jointly between Hornady and Marlin, and Hornady is the only mainstream factory offering a 450 Marlin cartridge. Up until recently, there was only one, but now Hornady has announced a new cartridge.
Hornady 350 gr. Flat Point
This was the original 450 Marlin cartridge developed by Hornady with Marlin. It uses Hornady's 350 gr. Interlock flat nose bullet. In a 22" barrel, it has a muzzle velocity of 2100 fps, and indeed in my 22" 1895MR, all of my measurements were within +/- 5 fps of that.
Hornady 325 gr. LEVERevolution
In late 2005, Hornady announced a new series of cartridges intended for lever action rifles with tubular magazines. It has a pointed tip made of a flexible polymer. Think of it as a rubber point. It is supposed to be safe in tubular magazines where recoil can cause the point of a bullet to detonate the primer of the cartridge in front of it. However, it supposedly provides the aerodynamics of a pointed bullet.
This ammunition is now available in 450 Marlin. The 325 grain bullet is slightly lighter than the flat point, and Hornady is claiming a muzzle velocity of 2225 fps (though in what barrel, I couldn't tell you).
